In a telephone conversation with Russia’s president on Friday, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Russia’s stance in support of Iran at the United Nations and other international forums, and gave an overall overview of the incidents of the past few days in Iran and the direct role and interference of the United States, the Zionist regime, and some European countries in these events.

“Our approach in domestic policy is people‑oriented, and all our efforts are aimed at hearing the people’s legitimate demands and alleviating the problems caused by the oppressive sanctions,” he said.

He added that the great nation of Iran, with its heroic and million‑strong presence in rallies held to condemn the riots, put rioters and agitators in their place.

In another part of the conversation, Pezeshkian spoke about the very good interactions and cooperation between the two countries in various sectors such as trade, investment, transportation, power plants and energy, and said joint Iran‑Russia cooperation projects are being carried out at a very high level.

He said the progress of the projects is being followed on a weekly basis and no problems have been reported in this regard.

President Vladimir Putin of Russia, while expressing his satisfaction with the conversation with Dr. Pezeshkian and conveying his warm greetings to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the people of Iran, said that Russia is closely and sensitively monitoring Iran’s developments.

He described what happened in Iran in recent days as similar to the scenarios of a colored revolution, and added that Moscow fully understands that, due to the impact of long‑term oppressive sanctions, economic and social problems arise in Iran, but riots and unrest are different from peaceful and civil protest.

The president of Russia slammed the actions of the rioters in attacking state, public, and religious facilities and violent attacks on security and law‑enforcement forces with foreign support.

He said the march of millions of Iranians after these incidents in support of the establishment, the Leader and the government clearly reflects the real situation in Iran.

“We hope that, with the Iranian government’s economic measures, we will see improvement and strengthening of economic issues, and at the same time our diplomatic efforts to clarify Iran’s conditions and positions and to prevent the escalation of tensions in international forums are ongoing.”
